ABUJA, NIGERIA — In a bold stride toward sustainable grassroots transformation, the Hope Outreach Network for Empowerment, Transformation and Advocacy Foundation (HONETA Foundation) has officially launched its operations. Headquartered in Abuja with a Pan-African vision, the non-governmental organization is set to bridge the critical gap between hope and opportunity for underserved populations, internally displaced persons (IDPs), widows, orphans, youth, and women.
Founded by renowned Nigerian media consultant, activist, and humanitarian Ujah David Abakpa, HONETA Foundation enters the social development space anchored by its powerful motto: “Keeping Hope Alive.”
A Vision Rooted in Grassroots Impact
Speaking on the launch of the foundation, Mr. Abakpa emphasized that sustainable societal transformation occurs only when optimism is backed by deliberate action, strategic networks, and advocacy.
“My life is a story of hope from Ushafa to the world,” Mr. Abakpa stated, reflecting on his journey. “HONETA is my lifelong commitment to keep hope alive for others who find themselves at the margins of society.”
Operating from its secretariat at Suite 2, Lekki Park, Laliga, Ushafa, Abuja, the foundation is structured around five core pillars (H-O-N-E-T-A): Hope & Humanitarian Relief, Outreach Programs, Network for Empowerment, Education through Transformation, and Advocacy.
Four-Pillar Strategic Agenda
HONETA Foundation’s intervention framework is tailored to address some of Nigeria’s most pressing socio-economic challenges through four frontline operational areas:
- Relief & Charity: Delivering critical humanitarian aid, food support, and emergency welfare to widows, orphans, and vulnerable families, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach conflict-affected regions.
- Youth & Women Empowerment: Providing intensive skill-up bootcamps in digital media, graphics design, video editing, agribusiness, tailoring, and baking—complemented by start-up kits and micro-grants to foster self-reliance.
- Education: Championing a Back-to-School project, literacy clubs, mentorship programs, and scholarships to keep indigent children in classrooms.
- Advocacy: Leading community townhalls and media campaigns to champion social justice, human rights, civic education, and good governance.
Ambitious Targets for Sustainable Change
To measure its immediate developmental footprint, HONETA Foundation has rolled out clear annual impact targets. The organization aims to support 5,000 vulnerable families, train 2,000 youths and women in vocational and digital enterprises, return 1,500 out-of-school children back to classrooms, and cultivate 500 grassroots community advocates.
With a board of trustees featuring dedicated leaders like Ujah David Abakpa (Chairman) and Ofuowoicho Jerry Abakpa, the foundation is poised to forge strategic partnerships with corporate entities, civil society organizations, and international donors.
